  • Is the fan hardwired or plugged in? If plugged in, is the receptacle properly installed and weatherproof?
  • Is there a clearly labeled switch or disconnect within sight of the fan?
  • Are all outdoor electrical components rated for exterior use with intact covers and gaskets?
  • Was an electrical permit pulled, and was the work inspected?
  • Is the fan on an appropriately sized and protected circuit breaker (often 15A for typical fans)?
