ADU Rough-In Wiring Complete and Inspection Passed in Minneapolis

We just hit a big milestone on the France Avenue ADU project in Minneapolis - rough-in is complete and the electrical inspection passed. That means every circuit was planned, every wire was pulled to code, and the city signed off. No surprises, no callbacks. Just clean work done right the first time.

ADU projects are more involved than most people expect. You're essentially wiring a fully independent living space, which means dedicated circuits, proper load calculations, and a panel that can handle everything the unit needs long-term. On this one, we installed a new Eaton service panel and fed every circuit back to it with organized, properly secured wiring runs throughout the framing.

The wiring runs through the roof trusses are a good example of what makes rough-in work either solid or sloppy. Wires that aren't secured correctly, run at the wrong height, or placed where they'll get damaged during insulation and drywall - those are the things that fail inspection and cost time. We plan the routing before we pull a single wire, which is why we pass on the first visit.

Passing rough-in inspection is the green light to move forward. Insulation goes in, drywall goes up, and eventually we come back for trim and finish work - devices, fixtures, and final connections. Getting this phase right is what makes that final phase smooth. Sloppy rough-in work has a way of creating real headaches down the line.
